Do a practice run first

Your first real session is the highest-pressure moment - tablet in hand, players waiting. Five minutes of practice beforehand takes that pressure off: you learn the flow with no queue and no consequences, your questions surface while there is time to answer them, and the real night runs smoothly because you have already done it once.

This is optional, but new organisers who do it have a noticeably easier first night. There are two ways to practise, and both are completely safe.

Option A: the instant demo (nothing touches your club)

Section titled “Option A: the instant demo (nothing touches your club)”

The instant demo drops you into a session that already has games running and a queue waiting. Press every button, run some games, break it however you like - none of it goes near your real club, players or ratings. This is the best option for a first, no-consequences play-around, and you do not even need to have set your club up yet.

Prefer to practise in your own club’s setup? Create a normal session, add a few names, play out a round or two, then delete that session afterwards. Deleting it wipes those results entirely, so everyone’s rating reverts to exactly where it was before - as if the practice never happened.

Run through the whole arc once, so nothing is a surprise on the night:

  1. Start a session and add a handful of players - just type their names.
  2. Check players in and tap a free court to let the picker suggest a game.
  3. Send a game on court, and when it finishes, enter the result - tap the winning pair and pop in their score. That single step is what updates everyone’s levels; there is nothing else to record.
  4. End the session and open the recap - the games, the summary, and the share link.
  5. Open the share link yourself and try claiming a profile, so you have seen exactly what your players will see (and can tell them how to do it).

That is the full loop. Once you have done it once on a throwaway, your first real night is just the same thing with more people.

ePegboard is actively developed, and a lot of what ships each week comes straight from club feedback. If something in the flow felt clunky or was not clear during your practice, email support@epegboard.com - that is exactly the kind of thing we want to smooth off before your first real night.
